Der amerikanische Fagottspieler Samuel Blair aus dem YouTube-Symphonie-Orchester traf in Australien auf den Popmusiker Stu Cullen aus Melbourne. Ihre Herausforderung war es, gemeinsam ein Lied zu schreiben, das von ihrer Reise durch Australien inspiriert wurde.

Vom 2. Juni 2010 bis zum 31. Juli 2011 war Sting mit dem Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra unter der Leitung von Steven Mercurio auf Symphonicity-Welttournee, um Sting- und The-Police-Hits in neuer Form zu präsentieren. Parallel zu dieser Welttournee erschien auf dem Label Deutsche Grammophon und Cherry Tree am 6. Juli 2010 das Studio-Album Symphonicities.
